Celebrity Cruises Ushers in a New Era with the Launch of Celebrity Xcel and Celebrity Xcite

This is a impactful time for Celebrity Cruises since the company is unveiling its newest ship, the Celebrity Xcel, and announcing its plans for the Celebrity Xcite—yet another exciting expansion into its luxury fleet. On October 23, 2025, the cruise line will officially welcome the Xcel and sets the stage for the Xcite’s anticipated rollout in 2028, promising a new era of luxury for cruise travelers.

The Celebrity Xcel is not just a new ship—it’s a game-changer. Designed with the guest experience front and center, the Xcel promises to take cruising to new heights. Jason Liberty, President and CEO of Royal Caribbean Group, expressed his excitement about the new addition, explaining that the Celebrity Xcel represents the next step in their efforts to revolutionize the guest experience. He emphasized that the ship is all about creating a deeper connection to the destinations guests visit and offering a truly elevated cruising experience.

But what makes the Celebrity Xcel stand out? For one, it’s part of Celebrity’s Edge Series, a line of ships known for breaking the mold of traditional cruising. With feedback directly from guests through the Xcel Dream Makers program, this ship has been crafted to meet the expectations of modern travelers who are looking for something extraordinary at sea.

Construction of the Celebrity Xcel took place at the Chantiers de l’Atlantique shipyard in Saint-Nazaire, France, and her inaugural season will kick off from Fort Lauderdale in November 2025. The ship will offer seven-night itineraries, making stops at some of the most beautiful destinations in the Caribbean, including Aruba, Curacao, Bonaire, and Cozumel. Each stop promises pristine beaches, crystal-clear waters, and vibrant local culture.

Looking ahead, the Celebrity Xcel is set to spend her summer 2026 season exploring the Mediterranean. With voyages departing from Barcelona and Athens, passengers will have the opportunity to discover the stunning Greek Islands, including Santorini and Mykonos, as well as visit the ancient ruins of Ephesus in Turkey. The ship will even feature an overnight stay in Madeira, Portugal, giving guests extra time to immerse themselves in the island’s natural beauty and culture.

While the Celebrity Xcel is a big deal, the excitement doesn’t stop there. The Celebrity Xcite was officially unveiled during a steel-cutting ceremony on October 23, 2025, kicking off construction for this impressive vessel. Set to launch in 2028, the Xcite promises to continue pushing the envelope in luxury cruising, just as its predecessors in the Edge Series have done.

Laura Hodges Bethge, President of Celebrity Cruises, shared her excitement about both the Xcel and the Xcite, stating that with the Xcel now part of their fleet and the Xcite on the horizon, the company was raising the bar for cruising and continuing to innovate. She emphasized that their goal was to ensure guests had the most incredible vacations possible and expressed eagerness to see what the new era of cruising would bring.

Much like the Celebrity Xcel, the Xcite will feature cutting-edge design, luxurious amenities, and a focus on creating memorable experiences that connect guests to the destinations they’re visiting. While details about the ship are still unfolding, one thing is certain—the Xcite will be another leap forward in modern cruising.

The Edge Series has already set the standard for innovation in the cruise industry. Each ship in the series—including the Celebrity Edge, Celebrity Apex, and Celebrity Beyond—has redefined what it means to cruise in style, combining bold design with exceptional service and luxurious amenities. The Celebrity Xcel builds on that legacy, offering even more space, more comfort, and more immersive experiences.

The Edge Series has received widespread praise for its spacious staterooms, unique dining options, and a wide range of onboard activities tailored to all types of travelers. With the addition of the Celebrity Xcel, these offerings are set to improve even further. Passengers can look forward to enhanced wellness experiences, top-tier entertainment, and new dining options that blend local and international flavors.

The partnership between Royal Caribbean Group and Chantiers de l’Atlantique remains a successful collaboration. Laurent Castaing, General Manager at Chantiers de l’Atlantique, expressed that their ongoing partnership with Royal Caribbean Group on the Celebrity Xcite reflects the trust and innovation between the two teams. He noted that together, they were paving the way for even more exceptional cruising experiences.

The Celebrity Xcel will offer some exciting new itineraries starting in November 2025. Along with the traditional Caribbean destinations, including Aruba, Curacao, Bonaire, and Cozumel, the ship promises an upgraded experience, blending relaxing beach days with immersive cultural experiences.

In the summer of 2026, Celebrity Xcel will be visiting the centers of the Mediterranean. Mediterranean Xcel will be sailing 7 to 11 night cruises which incorporate the renowned Greek Islands along with other destinations like Madeira. Celebrity Xcel will also offer guests the possibility of visiting the incredible destinations of Santorini, Mykonos, and Ephesus.

As Celebrity Cruises continues to innovate, the Celebrity Xcel and the soon-to-come Celebrity Xcite symbolize the cruise line’s commitment to delivering unforgettable experiences. Whether you’re cruising through the vibrant Caribbean or soaking up the Mediterranean sun, these ships will offer a luxury experience that’s second to none.

From the intimate designs of each stateroom to the top-notch dining, wellness services, and excursions, Celebrity Xcel and Celebrity Xcite are all about creating the ultimate getaway. These ships aren’t just places to stay—they’re gateways to the best the world has to offer.

As Celebrity Cruises continues to evolve and elevate the cruising experience, the Celebrity Xcel and the Celebrity Xcite are set to redefine the future of luxury cruising. With unforgettable destinations, innovative design, and a commitment to excellence, these ships will undoubtedly offer journeys that are both luxurious and enriching.
